These sites mostly allow you to write articles on any topic that you're interested in. You get paid as people read your posts but think about it this way - every time you blog you can add your article to these sites as well and collect twice the reward (note: this tactic will crucify your blog's standing with Google - and some sites will also ban you for this practice.)
How to make the money.
1. These websites pay you a share of the advertising revenue they receive on your content. The more content you provide, and the more valuable it is, the more likely you are to make money. The higher the traffic of the websites, the more views your articles will get.
2. Put affiliate links in the articles. (Only some of these sites allow this.) Let's just say you write an article about how to protect your computer from viruses. You could use affiliate links to anti-virus software and get a percentage of the sales.
3. Try to send visitors to your own site by giving yourself liberal mentions. Reference your own articles, talk about your own web experiences or encourage the reader to visit your site when they have finished reading. Then, once they get to your website you can make money off them!
NicheBlast receive $20 for referrals and pretty good monthly royalties for 350 word articles starting at US$4/month. The ongoing earnings potential is quite high if you build up a large collection of approved articles. You can reserve up to three articles at any one time and these must be submitted within 48 hours. Here
Helium In addition to their revenue sharing side, they also have marketplace where you write posts for others on a contract basis. (Similar to paid blogging.) Helium is highly active and good quality content is generally rewarded.
MyLot For each person you send to myLot you will receive a bonus equal to 25% of their discussion and image earnings.
Squidoo It's a bit like Wikipedia but you can make money from it. You create a page on a topic of your choice, and Squidoo will share ad revenue with you. You can also promote affiliate programs. Here
hubPages Similar if not same concept to Squidoo. Not as developed though. Here
Xomba You'll need an Adsense account for this one. You insert your ad code and it gets rotated on a 50-50 basis. You can write articles on any topic and include affiliate links as you wish. Here
Review Stream Write small reviews for US$1.50 each, 10c per vote. It may not sound like much but given the low quality of reviews on their already, it should be piss easy to pump out a bunch of reviews for little worries and a bit of extra cash. Minimum pay out is $1.50. Here
ePinions Conduct reviews on all sorts of products. If people decide to buy based on the reviews you get a slice of the pie. Here
Triond pays 50% of revenue on content for the previous month. They send the content out to various other websites.
The News Room If you have an ability to create news content, The News Room would like to source it from you for their network and pay royalties for it! Here
